Life is made up of choices. We make thousands of choices every day of our lives, some big and some small, some that matter, and some that really don't. The choice of accepting Christ, however, is the most important choice a person can ever make because it effects not just life on this earth, but also your eternity! Would you like the peace that comes from being right with God? Would you like to know that you have a home in heaven after your life on this earth comes to a close? The Bible explains this clearly, with many verses being taken from the book of Romans:
A good and perfect world was created by God; but since Adam and Eve, the world has experienced brokenness as a result of man's sin.
We must first realize that we have all sinned and done things that are against God - including you and me. No matter how many good deeds we do and how hard we may try, we are born into sin and will continue to sin.
God is life itself, which means anything apart from God is the death. The result of sin is separation from God; the result of sin, is spiritual and eternal death. But that is not what God wants for his children whom He loves! That is why this verse ends with a better way, a promise for us all; God has a free gift for you!
God is good and just, which means sin and injustice cannot go unpunished. Your sin and mine must be punished; but God sent His son, Jesus, as a perfect sacrifice to pay our penalty. He was sent to earth, lived a Holy and sinless life, and took our sin onto Himself as He died on the cross. He took our place and paid the final and ultimate price out of love for us.
So what do you need to do? BELIEVE! When you Believe and trust in your heart that Jesus gave his life for you and me, you receive salvation. You cannot earn it for yourself through task or deed; it is simply a gift that is up to us to accept or decline.
When you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sin and live in your heart, and you will receive the gift of forgiveness of your sins, freedom from punishment, adoption as His child, and eternity with Him. And after accepting Jesus, we need to strive to live a life that pleases God.
The choice is now yours to make, no one can ever make it for you. Will you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ? Are you ready to turn your life over to Him? Don't wait; you can make this decision today!
Below is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer to God is a way to declare that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you, they are not magical, but you must mean them in your heart. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!
I know that I am a sinner and I have sinned against you. I don't deserve eternal life, but I know that Jesus took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven.
I believe Jesus died and rose from the dead so that I could have the eternal life you offer.
Jesus, forgive my sins and come into my life. I am putting my trust in you and accept the gift of an eternal life through belief and trust in you. Help me to life a life for you!
